Century Memorial
A Canadian by birth, Edmund Arthur Stanley Clarke was a citizen of the United States by education and life activities. At Harvard he rowed on the Varsity crew; then, following a hereditary instinct, he plunged into the work of steel production. He became successively manager or president of several independent steel concerns. But he seems never to have had a liking for the trade’s huge consolidations of a quarter-century ago, and his later years were spent in the highly expert work of Secretary for the Iron and Steel Institute.
