Century Memorial
For many years John Harper was identified with the well-known publishing house which his grandfather founded and which still bears his name; he had entered the business of Harper & Brothers immediately on graduating from Columbia in 1877. During the last twenty years, since the change in control of the famous house, Harper had been retired from active business. He was a familiar figure at the Century, where his acquaintance was large and where he made a practice of daily visits.
