Century Memorial

During twenty-two years, George William Douglas had performed the duties of Canon at our Cathedral of St. John. He was a preacher in whom spiritual insight was combined with learning; he had in fact prepared for his work by two years of study at Bonn and Oxford. His qualities won him numerous invitations to assume larger responsibilities elsewhere than at New York, notably when he was urged to take the Presidency of Hobart College. But Dr. Douglas would not leave his work in the ministry or his New York associations.
