Century Memorial
Frank Howard Dodd was another of our good Centurians, and had served the Association on the Nominating Committee and the Board of Management. In 1870 he organized the publishing firm of Dodd & Mead, of which he was the head until his death. He knew the publishing business from A to Z, and could speak informingly on every item of it from paper to encyclopedias. Actively interested in the development of sections of the city, he was president of the Riverside and Fourth Avenue Associations. His influence and excellent business judgment were recognized by his election to the Chamber of Commerce and the vice-presidency of the American Publishers’ Association. A most companionable man, his death was a great grief to us.
