Century Memorial
Another honored member of the Bar was John McLean Nash. The son of Stephen P. Nash, the great church lawyer, would naturally be occupied with the affairs of Trinity Church. Yet Columbia University made the chief interest of his life. He graduated from the college in 1868, and then from the Law School. He was elected treasurer of the University in 1885, and thereafter till the fortnight before his death, was present at every meeting of the Board of Trustees. This was the symbol of the fact that for those thirty-one years Columbia had no more devoted and sagacious servant than its treasurer.
