Henry St. George Tucker represented Virginia in the House at Washington with such efficiency that, after the state had been redistricted a year ago and fragments of his own old Congressional district had been combined with territory cut off from others, he was unopposed at the primaries for the newly-created constituency. That this was a tribute to Tucker’s personality was proved by the entry into the field, when his death had reopened controversy, of no less than eight separate candidates representing almost as many mutually hostile factions in the district.
