Another of our pleasing painters of nature was George Gardner Symons, whose canvases were usually painted out of doors, with only the finishing touches left for the studio. Notably effective in snow scenes and river pictures, his works hang on the walls of all the principal American galleries. Their color was distinctive; their conception often seemed to reflect his own strong personality.
