Century Memorial
Edward Rathbone Satterlee was descended from an old Albany family, and was born in that city in 1845, and educated at the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute at Troy. He was the head of a fire insurance house representing extensive foreign interests, especially German, British, and Canadian. He was at various times Secretary of the Columbia Fire Insurance Company, Metropolitan Manager of the British American Insurance Company, and Director of other corporations. He was the Manager of the East Side Settlement and was actively interested in the Historical and St. Nicholas Societies, the Sons of the Revolution, and the Society of Colonial Wars.
