Wickliffe Rose was one of those energetic workers who have built up the great endowed foundations of our day. He had been a college professor in the South, whence he was called to the Rockefeller Sanitary Commission, twenty-one years ago. With the unerring judgment which these undertakings have displayed in selecting and promoting their active personnel, he was made successively manager of the international Health Board, and president of the General Education Board.
