Danford Newton Barney was the type of man who was by instinct a successful company executive. His particular field of service was with the electric light industry of Hartford, with which he was associated during forty-four years. But he was also director or manager in the banking, insurance and hospital organizations of his city, and with the New Haven Railroad. He served in the Connecticut state Senate, and was a generous giver to public institutions.
