Century Memorial
The pleasant smile and cordial greeting of Robert Jaffray at the Century’s monthly meetings, which he never missed, were part of the amenities of the occasion. A cheerful participant in the conversation, never obtrusive in his views but always reflecting sense and intelligence, he was a welcome addition to the evening groups, though he himself preferred a quiet talk with a single fellow-member in the reading-room. He talked little of his own affairs, but he had been a successful merchant in the foreign trade and a useful trustee for public charities.
