John H. Glover’s kindly face and uniformly gentle companionship are much missed from The Century, where he was a very regular visitor. Graduated with honors from Yale in the class of 1846, he was one of the most trusted members of the bar of New York, to which he was admitted more than a half-century ago. For a time he resided in Connecticut, where he was for two terms a prominent member of the Legislature. He was a devoted and consistent churchman, as generous as he was modest in his good works. As adviser to a large circle of clients, and in many extensive interests, his sound judgment and native integrity were highly prized.
