William Palmer Dixon had been in active legal practice at New York for nearly fifty-seven consecutive years, having graduated from the Columbia Law School as far back as 1870. He was a highly successful administrator, and was trustee, director, or president for half a dozen of the largest banking, insurance and real estate corporations in the city.
