Henry Golden Dearth

Henry Golden Dearth interested his associates through his complete change of style in painting during three separate phases; from his early imaginative work to brilliant studies in broken color, and again, in his later days, to the highest estheticism in still life—all of these changing exhibitions of his artistic genius being marked by the hand of a draftsman and colorist of rare quality. In shifting from one to another of these styles, he was pushed by a conviction that he must develop and move forward as he saw the natural course of his development, or else fall back. But the critic who described his “miraculous studies of swirling waters and spent sea-foam trickling down and about the slippery surfaces of rocks, dripping with moisture and full of the bite and tang of the harsh salt sea air,” described him at his best.
