Century Memorial

Charles Thomas Cook had been a member of our Association for thirteen years, when he died at the age of seventy-two [sic: seventy-one]. Born in New York, he was identified for sixty years with the fortunes of a great house which has prospered in ministering to the art training and education of both the metropolis and the country. His education was received in the firm of which he was the head and, such was his ardor, was still going on when he died. It was thorough, because protracted and practical. For his high ability he was honored by the confidence of the community in which he was a personage, as well as by the public notice of his service to art through decorations bestowed on him by the governments of both France and Italy. His career as a merchant was adorned by grace of both mind and manners.
