Robert Joseph Collier was by natural taste and qualities a sportsman and hunter first, an editor and publisher afterward. Collier’s Weekly came to him on his father’s death in 1909, after he had taken an active hand in its management ever since the Spanish War, and he retained active participation up to the time of his death. But there can be no doubt that daring exploits in horsemanship, in aviation, in the hunting of big game, were much more the real things of life to him.
