George Frederick Clover had been connected with St. Luke’s Hospital for forty-five years and had been pastor and superintendent of it since 1901. He had become nationally known in the medical world for his executive ability and personal charm, through which he combined in the hospital the highest standard of professional service with a very uncommon spiritual atmosphere. Dr. Clover was also Canon of the Cathedral of St. John the Divine; his career linked closely the religious and medical problems of life.
