Century Memorial

William Burnham, a practical steel manufacturer, was at the time of his death president of the Standard Steel Works and director of the Baldwin Locomotive Company, of which latter company his father was a founder. Resident of Philadelphia, Mr. Burnham always took deep interest in educational work in the South, especially for the poor whites of the mountain regions and the negroes of the “Black Belt,” and he gave his time ungrudgingly to other useful charities.
