Albert Gallatin Browne was a graduate of Harvard University in the class of 1853. During the war he served as Military Secretary to Governor Andrew of Massachusetts, and in that capacity he was a valuable assistant to that model war Governor. He was subsequently associated with him in the practice of the law, and was for several years the official reporter of the Supreme Judicial Court of Massachusetts. He was subsequently connected with the Evening Post and New York Herald, and was a prolific contributor to magazines. He was a clear and forcible writer of sincere convictions, with a happy faculty of expressing them.
Of late years he had resided in Boston, and was engaged in literary work until his life ended.
