Frederick Whiting. [Born] 1861. Physician.
Dr. Whiting was distinguished in his professional life as a specialist in diseases of the ear, nose and throat, consulting otologist to several New York hospitals, member of all the best associations of his profession, author of a classic book in the field of his specialty.
And as he was distinguished in his professional life so was he distinguished as a Centurion.
If you will look in the Card Room you will find there The Frederick Whiting Challenge Trophy, a great silver cup, presented by Dr. Whiting to the members of that club within the Club—the billiard room habitués. He never once played; but, ultimate pool and billiard fan that he was, when he came to the Club House went directly to the billiard room to watch the games.
He was a member of the Century for thirty-two years—interesting and beloved to the end of his eighty-six years.
