Century Memorial

Every one who knew Gustavus Tuckerman recognized what a warm-hearted, generous, kind, true-hearted man he was. He represented the very essence of good fellowship, and it can be safely asserted that he had not an enemy in the world. He was modest, simple hearted, sympathetic and loyal to his friends to an unusual degree, and with all these lovable qualities he had a clear intelligence, a capacity for affairs, and strict sense of right and duty, which made him a model citizen and efficient agent in advancing every good work. He came of the best New England stock, and his private life in his charming domestic circle was worthy of his traditions and early training.
