Francis A. Stout was a man well known in this city as a man of high position, prominent in social circles and in charitable work. He was a man of broad cultivation, and of the most generous nature, and devoted his large wealth to the best uses. He had great business sagacity, and was influential in the direction of great corporations and business enterprises. He was a liberal patron of the arts, and was unsparing in effort and unselfish in his devotion to good works.
