It was as expert metallurgist that George Cameron Stone was known best. His knowledge of the qualities and uses of non-ferrous metals, of problems involved in mining, smelting and marketing, was all but unbounded. Stone was himself an inventor in his chosen field, holding eight important patents. His interesting avocation was the collection of ancient arms and armor, picked up by him personally all over the world. It was believed to be one of the half-dozen most important private collections in the world.
