Herman T. Schladermundt was a versatile artist, with particular bent for interior mural and stained-glass decoration, to supplement the exterior designs by our most distinguished architects. His work comprised mosaics and stained glass in the National Library at Washington, in the Agricultural Building at Chicago’s World’s Fair of 1893, at the Essex County Courthouse in Newark, and at the Flagler Memorial in St. Augustine. In all of these noteworthy buildings, Schladermundt’s fine sense of color and appropriate design gave distinction to the interiors.
