Archibald D. Russell

Archibald Douglas Russell was a man of tireless energy; busying himself, in addition to the exacting early work with his realty firm, in the labors of directorship in more than half a dozen corporations, including two railways and several large New York banking institutions. He did not limit his expenditure of time and energy to the field of business affairs; for he served on the governing boards of the New York Hospital, the Deaf and Dumb Institute, the Children’s Aid Society, the Five Points House of Industry and the New York Blind Asylum. He was a trustee of Princeton University and home corresponding secretary of the American Geographical Society. Here is the record of a busy life; occupied largely, as is the life of the best Americans, with work for other interests than his own. Mr. Russell was a generous giver; Princeton University in particular will remember him as a benefactor.
