Bowen Whiting Pierson had been a member of this Association for only three years when he died at the age of forty-nine. Of admirable lineage he stood forth as a self-educated man, successful in affairs, and enjoying his success in a devotion to the things of the spirit. He was an antiquarian and a collector of eminence, a strong supporter of what is best and most permanent in the political and religious life of the community. To those who knew him well he seemed a choice man and worthy of the associations which he sought and cultivated.
