Dr. George A. Peters, who was so well known to most of us, stood in the highest rank of surgeons in this city, where he practised for nearly forty-five years. He received all the honors of his profession, and was connected, as consulting surgeon, with many of the leading hospitals in the city, and a member of nearly all the medical societies. As would naturally follow from his recognized ability, he led a life of unceasing activity in professional work; but he found time in the intervals to gratify his strong social instincts, for he was a choice companion, a man of rare wit, and the centre of a large circle of admiring personal friends.
