George Livingston Peabody was a prominent physician in New York, until weakness of the heart compelled him to retire. A graduate of Columbia of the Class of ’70, he then passed through the College of Physicians and Surgeons, and afterwards studied abroad. He was a trustee of Columbia, and a member of the University Council. He was Clinton Lecturer on Medicine in the College of Physicians and Surgeons, and from 1887 to 1903 professor of Materia Medica and Therapeutics.
