Stephen Henry Olin’s career was that of a lawyer with singularly interesting avocations. A high authority on certain branches of the law, he was also major and judge-advocate of the old National Guard of New York State, commissioner for the revision of the school laws, almost a lifetime trustee of the city’s public libraries, President of the University Settlement and once, on an interim appointment, president of Wesleyan University.
