Century Memorial

Charles H. Miller was an artist of genial temperament, sincerely desirous of pleasing and being pleased. A founder and charter member of the Art Club of New York, whose membership has included many of the best-known artists of the Century, past and present, he was always liberal in his attitude towards younger men in his profession and always quick and generous to recognize ability.

Miller began exhibiting as long ago as 1860; of his many landscapes some of the best now hang in the Metropolitan Museum and the Brooklyn Institute. The versatility of his talents may be judged from the fact that he not only held the degree of doctor of medicine but had written both verse and prose, earning distinction not only as a painter but as a critic and lecturer on art.
