Another noted architect was Emmanuel Louis Masqueray. A native of France, he came to this country after he had won prizes at the Paris Schools, and had worked with the Commission des Monuments Historiques. In 1893 he opened an atelier in New York, and in time became the architect of monumental buildings in many parts of the United States. He was the Chief of Design at the St. Louis Exposition of 1904 and planned many of its structures. He built the Cathedral at St. Paul, Minnesota, the Pro-Cathedral at Minneapolis, and cathedrals and churches in other towns.
