Century Memorial
Lea McIlvaine Luquer graduated in 1887 from the School of Mines with the degree of civil engineer, and the following autumn was offered a position as assistant in the Department of Mineralogy under Professor Egleston, one of the noted professors of the day. He served in that department for thirty-seven years as assistant, tutor, adjunct professor and assistant professor, retiring in 1926 because of physical disability. In his college work he was well known for his work in lithology and crystallography, and published a text book on the subject.
