Century Memorial

A. Bleecker Banks was a non-resident member of The Century since 1901. Born in New York, he entered into the business of his father of publishing law books. In 1858 he became Manager of the Albany Branch and made his home thenceforth in that city, giving close attention to his business in which he took great pride. He was prominent as a citizen, a member of many clubs and societies, and greatly interested in politics. He was twice Mayor of Albany and repeatedly a member of the State Assembly and Senate. He was influential in securing the nomination of Mr. Cleveland for President.

Hospitably inclined, he delighted in gathering his friends about his board, amiability and graciousness being his striking characteristics. He loved his business, his city, and his home, and was loved and honored by his large circle of associates and friends.
