Century Memorial

Calvin Goddard was noted as one of the most expert accountants in the country, whose services were constantly sought by large corporations. He had occupied the position of Treasurer of the Wells-Fargo Company, of the New York and New England Railroad, and had been connected with the Edison Company, and was, at the time of his death, President of the Chicago Rapid Transit Railroad Company. He had an honorable record during the war as a member of the staff of Gen. Rosecrans, and as Adjutant-General of the Army of the Cumberland. He served at Vicksburg and Chattanooga. He was a man of remarkable intellectual ability, and was implicitly trusted in the responsible positions he filled.
