Century Memorial

John Worth Edmonds, youngest son of the late Francis Edmonds, (one of the original members of the Century, then known as The Sketch Club) developed at an early age a talent for art and literature, drawing many caricatures and sketches, which were received by various publications. But being unable to follow his inherited artistic leaning, he determined to take up a commercial life. Beginning as office boy with Hard & Rand, coffee importers, in 1875, he was taken in as a partner some years later. Mr. Edmonds was of a warm and affectionate nature, and few of his club associates knew of all that he did to help his fellow men when there was need.
