Century Memorial

LeRoy Milton Yale had only last year, at the age of sixty-five, retired to his New England home with the fond hope of years of leisure for the indulgence of his artistic gifts, which were pronounced, and in the exercise of which he had attained marked proficiency, when he was cut off after a brief illness. Born on the Massachusetts coast, he was a graduate of Columbia in 1862, and of Bellevue Medical College in 1866. In addition to his private practice Dr. Yale devoted himself largely to writing in connection with his profession, and to lecturing at Bellevue. His chief artistic activity was in etching, in which he made a distinct reputation. He was deeply interested in its technical processes, and in extending the practice of the art. He was one of the founders and at one time the President of the New York Etching Club, and was active in promoting the success of the print department of the New York Public Library. He was an attached and sympathetic member of The Century, was constant in his attendance, and loyal to its best traditions.
