John A. Weekes, who was in his eighty-first year [sic] at the time of his death, was one of the oldest and most highly respected lawyers of the city. He was for many years the head of the firm of Weekes & De Forest, whose practice was very extended. Mr. Weekes seldom appeared in court, his work being confined to the office; he had a solid reputation as a safe and faithful adviser and a sound lawyer. In the words of one of the Justices of this district, “he was a good and true man, whose life was well spent in the honorable pursuit of his calling.”
