Mark M. Stanfield was a prominent merchant in Boston who was a heavy sufferer by the great fire in that city which entailed a loss upon his firm of a million and a half of dollars; but like a Phoenix he rose from its ashes and became the popular and successful host of the Victoria Hotel in this city.
