Dean Sage, of Albany, a gentleman of large means and extensive business connections, was noted as an angler and as a collector of angling literature and nineteenth-century first editions. His Waltoniana were especially remarkable. He was the author of a privately printed volume on The Restigouche and its Salmon Fishing, issued in sumptuous form in Edinburgh in 1888, and illustrated by George Reid, R.S.A., C. O. Murray, H. Sandham, and Stephen Parrish. From the point of view of the bibliophile, and the sportsman as well, the book was regarded as worthy of the reputation of its author. Mr. Sage like his father was deeply interested in Cornell University, and generously contributed, in many ways, to its important work.
