Dr. Henry D. Noyes was a well-known and prominent physician in the city, and in his specialty as an oculist unsurpassed. He was educated at the College of Physicians and Surgeons, completed his medical studies in Berlin, and for over forty years had practised here with remarkable distinction and success.
He was a man of liberal culture and wide reading, of the highest scientific attainments, in all respects abreast of the times, in the front rank of his profession, ever ready to generously place his commanding abilities at the service of the poor and suffering, and always leading the life of an earnest, devoted Christian gentleman.
He was an especially delightful companion, cheerful, intelligent, cordial and responsive. His courtesy and polish made him always welcome in the circle of his friends and will cause him to be long remembered.
