Century Memorial

Henry Denton Nicoll was another able and successful practitioner of medicine in this city. He was born at New Windsor sixty-four years ago in the house where he died; he had a sound education, graduating from Williams and Columbia, a vigorous and creative mind, and the highest sense of duty. His industry and attainments gave him high place in three important hospitals, one of which he assisted in organizing. He was eminent in the work of the Bible Society and of his church; in the country he was respected as a citizen and beloved as a neighbor. His work in the uplift of local politics was indefatigable. The Century had enjoyed his membership for twenty-one years and for many of these he was constant in attendance, adorning and enlivening the groups with which he talked: in mien and presence, both of body and mind, he showed a great distinction.
