Century Memorial
James M. McLean was well known, and was held in high regard by all. He was, during nearly all his life, connected with the insurance business in this city; was for several years President of the New York Board of Fire Underwriters and of the National Board of Fire Underwriters; was for five years President of the Board of Education in this city; was connected as a Director with many of the large financial institutions here, and was active and most useful in many charities. He was also largely instrumental in establishing our admirable Fire Department. He was a valuable citizen, whose loss is felt on every hand.
