Century Memorial
Arthur Lawrence was born near Boston sixty-seven years ago and had been in this society for nine years. He was of fine origin, graduated at Harvard and passed some time at the front in the Civil War. In theology he was trained at Gambier, Ohio, and at Cambridge, Massachusetts. By nature a scholar, and a minister of the gospel by strong conviction and choice, his parish work was for a short time in this city and for a long time, over thirty years, in Stockbridge. He was a supporter of four learned societies and delivered lecture courses in various divinity schools. Gentle in blood and training, of pleasant manners and personality, an ardent, faithful minister, he was an example in his life, and welcome everywhere in the best company.
