Century Memorial
Leroy King, whose untimely death in his early manhood brought sorrow to all who knew him, came of distinguished ancestry. He was eighth in descent from Peter Stuyvesant, the great grandson of Herman LeRoy, and on his father’s side a descendant of the English families of King and Gordon.
His life was so quiet and unassuming that few beyond his personal acquaintances realized the depth and tenderness of his nature. He was a man of the highest honor, unswerving rectitude, purest life, and in every relation was an admirable example of a true gentleman. To charitable and benevolent institutions, and to the Church, he was a generous and unostentatious contributor, and he has left in the hearts of those who knew and loved him a memory that will never fade.
