Alonzo Brayton Ball was a distinguished and much beloved physician of New York, where he was born sixty-eight years ago. He was a graduate of Yale in arts and of Columbia in medicine. He was connected as attending surgeon with four great hospitals, was a lecturer in Columbia, a member of the important medicine associations, local and national, and belonged to two important social clubs. His great skill and nobility of character endeared him to the many households in which he practised. His personality and intellectual force assured him a hearty welcome in the best circles. For sixteen years he was a frequent visitor in our rooms, where among his friends and fellows his genial nature unfolded and his many cares were forgotten in pleasant conversation.
