Brother of Frederick Billings

Century Memorial

Oliver P. C. Billings, whose funeral services also took place to-day at All Souls’ Church, was a well-known lawyer of this city; a native of Woodstock, Vermont; a graduate of the University of Vermont, and of the Harvard Law School; and his entire professional life was passed in this city. He was for several terms an alderman-at-large, elected under the system of minority representation, when there was a chance for a decent man to become a member of that Board, and not as now, when it is impossible for one to get there even by accident. He was public spirited, and earnest in the effort to sustain a pure municipal government, and rendered the city great service in his devotion to its affairs.

He was a genial, companionable man; a favorite in club life, and a most estimable, upright and useful citizen.
