Century Memorial

Older frequenters of the Club will remember Samuel Clinton Van Dusen as an invariable member of the group which, a dozen years ago, sat of an evening at the Northwest table in the dining room. Van Dusen’s shrewd face, topped with the curly reddish crop of hair, always looked out on the rest of the cheerful company from his post between those other older-time Centurions, Lippincott and Edward [sic: Edwin] Baldwin. Somewhat reticent in manner, he was none the less constantly active in the interests of the Club. Van Dusen served his term with Dunning on the House Committee, at a time when the duties of that body were made more than usually arduous by accidental circumstances of the day.
