Clinton Ogilvie was an excellent landscape artist and had achieved a wide reputation. He had studied extensively abroad, and had studios at various times in Paris, Nice and Mentone. He had exhibited extensively both in Europe and America, and was a member of the National Academy of Design. He held high rank in his profession, was highly esteemed by the public and by the brotherhood of artists in The Century, of which it is such an important part.
