John Held Jr. and the Dry Farce of Prohibition
A celebration of Jazz Age cartoonist John Held, Jr. (Cen. 1933–1958): a nutshell of Held's life and career by Century curator Tina Cuadrado, a summary of his activities as a Centurion by archivist Brynn White, and a panel discussion with historians David Wondrich and Daniel Okrent, moderated by Dwight Garner. In-person attendees were treated to Prohibition-era cocktails curated by Wondrich and musical interludes by Howard Fishman, Charlie Burnham, and Andrew Hall. Part of the CAAF's exploration of "A Century of the New Yorker and the Century."
