Ralph Ellison: Centurion
Renowned author Ralph Ellison (Invisible Man) was a Centurion from 1964 to 1994, and the first African-American member elected in the twentieth century.
The Century Association Archives Foundation acquired copies of over 400 pages of Century-related material from his personal papers, held by the Library of Congress.
Ellison scholar Paul Devlin discusses what can be learned about Ellison, the Century in those years, and Ellison as a Centurion from this rich archive of letters and club ephemera.
